Do You Have A Fear Speaking In Public?

Do you have a fear speaking in public? Well, you’re not the only one. Most people’s biggest fear is public speaking and it only makes sense that you’d have a fear of that too. People end up getting this fear because it is a skill that was never taught to them as they grew up and you risk embarrassing yourself in front of your peers. I’m going to share with you some ways to help get over it.
- Join Toastmasters: Toastmasters is a non-profit public speaking group that is in every modern city in the world. They have group meetings where they hold the philosophy learn by doing. This is very scary for most people and it was scary for me the first time I went. The people there are very supportive and will help you through it. Like them, they were once like you, but they got through it. While you’re there, you’ll hear speeches, you’ll get to learn by seeing them and you have the choice to speak when you feel comfortable.
- Speak Often: With Toastmasters or any other organization I think you should speak as much as possible. It’s always hard and awkward at first, but the more you do it the better you get. You will eventually feel very comfortable in front of an audience, I guarantee it. You don’t have to do a full out speech every time. Toastmasters has a thing called table topics, which is impromptu speeches, which will really push you to your limits. It’s hard, it’s tough, but you’ll get past your fear speaking in public.
Becoming a charismatic and moving speaker is in the grasp of all people. If you’re looking to learn to transform yourself from an ordinary speaker to extraordinary speaker, check out Public Speaking Ebooks.
