In the Old Testament book of Exodus at Chapter 14 we have this amazing picture of Moses leading the people of God from slavery to freedom. Most people will know something of the dramatic and exciting escape from Egypt but it is good to read the text and know that it is much more than a story.
Moses is called by God. From a very early age he had been rescued and preserved and so well educated. For forty years he had been prepared by God for this mighty role in life. It is a pivotal point in human history.

Facing something new has its individual and unique difficulties. There is the wondering. There can be a degree of apprehension. None of us enjoy being confronted with the unknown - even when we know with assurance that the living Christ is with us.
Within around three months of being delivered from Egypt and the chasing charioteers, they are having to face the armies of the Amalekites.

God had brought His chosen people out of Egypt, under the strong powerful leadership of Moses, but Egypt was not yet out of them! That is always the harder thing to do.
When we come to Jesus Christ - Jesus saves us from our sins - He rescues us out of our messes - but to get the sin out of us can be a different matter - the envy - jealousy - longings - desires - the looking back to our former way of life. To get all that out of us is a very different matter.

The nightmare begins to unfold as you walk into your office on Monday morning. A blustery cold front has blown through late Sunday night bringing freezing temperatures and strong winds. You are not worried about it since your building is climate controlled. As you turn on the tap to fill the coffee carafe, there is no water. You try the water fountain in the hallway. Still there is no running water. Over the weekend, a piece of scaffolding used to wash the building’s windows broke free smashing an office window two floors above you allowing water pipes in the building to freeze. The bottom line, no running water, no fire suppression, no occupying the building for a couple of days until everything is repaired. This is a true story that put businesses housed in a 23 story building in Dallas out of business for two days in the mid 1980’s.

To be successful today, means that you must manage tomorrow and tomorrow’s tomorrow. The 21st century has a plethora of tools to make self-management much easier. However what ever tool that you use, you need to take the following action:
Make an appointment with yourself.
When you take the action to schedule time with yourself, you must also adopt some additional tactics.
- Do not take any phone calls
- Do not open your emails
- Do not make an appointment with a real person
- Make sure that you use your strategic plan
- Work off a list that is aligned to your plan and current marketing goals, sales goals and revenue goals
- Complete at least one task
- Transfer the completed task or goal to your goal summary sheet
- Do not leave the appointment early
