As A Leader Whose Voice Are You Listening To And Whose Voice Will Guide You In Making Your Decision?

Posted on May 16, 2008 - Filed Under Self Improvement

Who do you blame when something goes wrong in your life or when it just does not go the way you thought it was going to go? All over our Western World today people are blaming others and even suing others in situations where a few years ago this would never have happened. I have been reading, studying and teaching from the exciting book of Exodus recently and there are basic fundamental principles in these pages, particularly in the area of leadership.

Turn with me to Exodus Chapter 5 where we read of Moses and Aaron going in to see Pharaoh the King of Egypt, with this request - “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says - Let My people go - so that they may hold a festival to me in the desert.”

When we look to Jesus Christ to rescue us - or deliver us - or release us - there must be a good reason - and that reason should be similar to the one here. Reason and purpose are important. What are you doing and why are you doing it?

Set us free from our chains - release us - liberate us from slavery - so that we may worship YOU.

Today Israel is back in the Promised Land. or at least part of it. They have got back to the land but as yet not back to the Lord.

Jesus Christ sets us free - so that we can be bound to HIM.

Jesus Christ rescues us from the grip and power of sin - so that we can serve HIM.

The Living Christ delivers us from being under control of an enslaving devil to become willing slaves and servants of the God of mercy and power and truth and love. A man will be slave to One or the other.

Jesus Christ came to set us free - so that we can follow.

Jesus Christ comes to deliver us from oppression so that we can obey His Holy Word.

In Phase 1 of the book of Exodus, God spoke. Now, we see Him beginning to ACT, and, even as He begins to act in various ways. in His Mercy he continues to speak.

“Pharaoh - I am speaking to you - I am giving you the opportunity to hear My Word - and believe. But if you do not believe what I say - and if you will not obey ME - then you will have to face what I can do.”

Chapters 5 to 7 cover a period where God continues to speak mercifully, and even at this time Pharaoh’s heart is being hardened. For some it will be too late.

Moses is hearing various voices at this time, and there is the question - Who is he going to listen to?

This can be the same with us - Who are we listening to? Whose voice are we going to pay attention to? When people say - “I want you to do this” or - “I want you to do that” - which “I” do we listen to? Who do you allow to influence you? This is a vital area - and we have to face up to it - but leaders in particular.

Take time to consider this. Whose voice are you hearing? Who is influencing you the most? And, when there is a conflict how do you decide which way you are going to turn? These are crucial vital questions.
