If your child has been recently evaluated for behavior or learning problems, his difficulties may have been given a name or ?label’. But, is the label the most important part of the evaluation?
When a child is not developing as expected, the first thing most parents and professionals attempt to do is figure out a name for what is going on. The assessment or evaluation process is often viewed as the path to determine an appropriate diagnosis or label for individuals. Disability labels become the gatekeepers for services and supports in schools and the broader community. Parents and professionals therefore become very invested in the name that is given to a child’s condition, both to understand more about the child and to secure treatment. This is a completely normal reaction for parents, as they want what is best for their children and must seek it in a system that provides or denies support based on their child’s label.

Dedicated to My Father, My Husband, and My God
My father was a First Sergeant in the Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War. He came home with wounds and purple hearts to show for it.
I was born during that time in November of 1967. He was there a few days after I was born but had to return to Vietnam shortly after. He may have come home another time when I was very little, but I don’t remember. I remember seeing him for the first time when I was about five years old.

Previous generations told children what to do, how to do it, when to do it and the only answer to the “But, why?” was, “Because I said so.” Although some of that is still okay, depending on the issue, parenting skills have changed.
Parents are more likely to explain why expectations are what they are. However, with explanations can also come debates. Most parents still resort to “because I said so” when the argument becomes tiresome. Parents are busy these days. So are kids. Time is limited and very few parents want to spend that time arguing about rules, expectations, behavior or anything else for that matter. However, when parents let too many issues slide, typically the behavior of the child becomes a significant concern. It is time to fine-tune your communication skills.

Having a vegetable garden is very good. There are many people who like plants and like to grow vegetables in their back yard. The vegetable garden looks nice and elegant if planned properly. First and foremost vegetables need a whole lot of sunlight to grow. So first look out for a place where there is enough sunlight to set up your vegetable garden.
The ground should be even for a vegetable garden. This is because the water that you would be giving to your plants would remain in the soil itself. This would ensure that all the fertilizers and essential minerals that exist in the soil are not hampered. If you do not have a choice then you will have to flatten the ground or then finally plant them on the slope itself.

Talk about stuck in the middle. A step-parent seems to have equal responsibility and so very little rights. And, truthfully, that is probably accurate. The major role in any blended family is the biological parent. The step-parent must stand alongside the birth parent, participate in all aspects of the family and yet they have very little say, at least directly to the children. It is definitely a tough position, but if done correctly, you will be amazed at the strength of a blended family.
